Maryum K. Shadeed was born February 13, 1994 in Baltimore, Maryland. In her younger years she would watch a local seamstress in her city make garments. Maryum would use bandanas and hand sew them together and wear them around the house. She gained an interest in sewing knowing she couldn't receive the items she wanted, that her mother would not be able to afford. At the age of 14  she received her first sewing machine as a gift. It was at that time, that she taught herself to sew. By her sophomore year in high school she made her first garment. She later started making items for family and friends. One of her biggest achievements was a feature on ABC Teen news, local radio interviews and a collaboration with BGC's Gia.
